Christmas 1993. A day I would never forget. Under the tree I got a Buffalo Bills (my favorite team back then and still is my favorite team) helmet by Riddell. Being the heavy basketball junkie that I was in those days, I was getting ready to geek up on an NBA doubleheader playing on NBC. Marv Albert and Ahmad Rashad. Good times, man! Good times! I was a Phoenix Suns fan back then, so I got another present when they beat the Houston Rockets in the first game. Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Cedric Ceballos.  Those names take me back.  I feel like Stevie Wonder when he said that he wish those days never went away. Unfortunately, a few months later Houston got revenge against the Suns in the playoffs in 7 games. Then the second game it was the Orlando Magic and the Chicago Bulls. Orlando with Shaq and Penny. This was the year Jordan retired, so I watched Pete Myers take his spot with Scottie Pippen and Toni Kukoc. If I’m not mistaken, the Bulls won that game.  I think it was a close one.  I’ll have to check YouTube for that one. Then, the ultimate cherry on the top! I got Midnight Marauders on cassette. I couldn't wait to play it.  Especially since Award Tour was one of the hottest songs that was out at the time.  The end of 8 Million Stories used to freak me out.  I always had to fast forward that part.  It felt to dark and creepy for my tastes. I guess it was a good thing that I didn't play the music at night.  I wore out Midnight Marauders.  Even when Beats, Rhymes and Life came out a couple of years later,  I was still on Midnight Marauders mode.  No matter how much you play it, you never wanna leave.  You know what's special about music? Especially for an album like Midnight Marauders?  It takes you to a place in time.  You know what I mean?  Like when you begin an album, you're going on a journey.  While you're travelling, you remember a lot of events that happen to you or in the world.  That's the beauty about music.  That's the beauty about art.  Christmas 1993.  A day I would never forget.  In the words of Ice Cube, that day was a good day.
